Elijah Warner 1807-1891
« on: Saturday 26 August 17 07:01 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone  :D

I am desperately trying to trace the parents of Elijah Warner born 15 July 1807 Gislingham, christened 8 November 1807 Gislingham and buried 16 June 1891 Redgrave and Botesdale.

I have come across a Charles Warner in Gislingham around this time who married a Eunice Rose on 9 December 1795 in Gislingham. I think they had at least 5 children: Harriet christened 9 June 1797, Charles christened 11 March 1798, James christened 6 June 1800, William christened 10 April 1803 and Mary christened 20 May 1804.

Could Elijah be their youngest son?  ???

Thank you, Carrie  ;D

Elijah Warner. married Susan Knott. Gislingham. 1830.
I can't find him as the son of Charles and Eunice.

He was the inn keeper at Greyhound Inn, 6, Market Square, Botesdale, Hartismere, Suffolk. in 1881.

Looking at the 1841 Census for Gislingham there is only one couple called Warner of the right age to be Elijah's parents and they are Charles and Eunice. Interesting that Elijah calls one of his sons Charles. However I cannot find a baptism for him to prove who his parents were.

Elijah is living at Street, Gislingham, Hartismere, Suffolk. in 1841 with his wife and 5 children. His wife died some time between 1871 and 1881.

Just looked at the Charles and Eunice in the 1841 and they seem to be living as neighbours to Elijah. Looks like there is a good probability that they are his parents but can't find a birth for Elijah any where.

sorry it has taken me so long to post but I'm at work today. Yes, I found the birth and christening dates on family search but have had no luck trying to verify them. I can't find Elijah's birth anywhere. It is very frustrating.
I would like to thank you for your help though. I'm not going to let him beat me.

carrie-bob,

Looking at the transcripts from the SuffolkFHS Hartismere Deanery which covers Gislingham;
The only possible candidate for Elijah Warner is bapt. 28-3-1808 s/o John & Elizabeth (late Parfery) (born 28-3) in Westhorpe St.Margaret.

However there is in Gislingham St.Mary;
8-11-1807 Elisha Warner s/o Charles & Eunice (born 15 July) (late Rose)

hope this helps.

Alan
