Thanks so much, Janis, I really appreciate this info - plenty to follow up here. Was there a date for the Jane Wake marriage to Joseph Pattison?

Thanks Janis, the date means I can rule out this Jane Wake from my search.

What particulars were you looking for in your Jane?  Age or possible year of birth, marriage?  Children?  I have lots of resources.  There is an earlier George/Jane combination in Heighington

Hi Janis,

Thanks for asking :-) It's rather a complicated story.

I'm looking for the baptism of the Jane Wake who married Thomas Coulson in 1810 in Haughton le Skerne. There were other Wakes living there at that time but she doesn't seem to be directly related.

In the 1851 census she was living in Southwark London and gave her birthplace as Scotland and her age as 74. The Wakes at Haughton le Skerne originally came from Middleton Tyas in Yorkshire. When I looked at the map I was surprised to see "Scotch Corner" nearby - I 'm guessing the census enumerator misheard that as Scotland!  But there's no Jane baptised there. There was a George Wake who married Jane Brewster in Middleton Tyas in 1774 - I suspect they are the couple at Heighington. Their daughter Jane was baptised 1782 Heighington which doesn't fit.

So I thought I'd see what I could find around that area. Their is a baptism for a Jane Wake in 1775 in Easby (not far from Middleton Tyas), illegitimate daughter of Margaret Wake, which seems promising.

Hi Janis,

I wondered if your records for Heighington go back to 1702? I've been told there was a John Wake baptised there in 1702 - I'd love to know if his parents were John and Elizabeth :-)

No children born between the marriage in 1810 and the baptism of Jane Coulson in 1813?
