Local newspapers Wicklow 1920
« on: Wednesday 30 August 17 20:45 BST (UK) »
My great aunt Catherine ('Kate') Perkins (née Haven, of Thurles) died on 3 Sept 1920, aged only 48, so very young. She is buried in Ballycoog graveyard, beside Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow, but unfortunately there is no state record of her death, so I have been unable to find the cause of death.

Herself and her husband Pierce ran the Woodenbridge hotel around this time, and because of this, and her young age when she died, I thought it may have been mentioned in a local paper at the time.

Would anyone have any suggestion as to what would have been the local paper in the Woodenbridge/Aughrim/Arklow area around 1920, and where would be a good place to access archives of the papers from that time?

Any help gratefully appreciated!

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Irish Newspapers Archive has the Wicklow Newsletter 1900 to 1926
https://www.irishnewsarchive.com/publications-by-county
They do a 24 hour sub.

Thanks both. The Perkins family history page on Wordpress is actually my own, and I have been to Catherine's grave in Ballycoog. The links to the newspaper sources are very useful however, thanks!
