Roger and Martha Rose
« on: Friday 01 September 17 08:23 BST (UK) »
Roger Rose married Martha Sheppard in Ipswich in 1816.
Martha was baptised in Hoxne in 1799, no idea where Roger came from.
There is a newspaper report of a Roger Rose stealing handkerchiefs from a man in Hoxne in 1824 which could be my Roger.
Then nothing.
I can't find anything more on this couple, no children, deaths, remarriages, census. It's as if they've dropped off the planet. Could fellow RCers see if they can come up with anything?
Thanks.

Free Reg has John Rose, born 11 Nov, baptised 23 Dec 1789,  St Peter, Palgrave. Son of Roger Rose and Hannah Gordon.

Possibly linked to your man?

From Family Search. 1861 R Rose, widower, age 68, born Hopton, pauper inmate Wisbech Union.

Also Family Search. Children of Roger and Hannah(Gordon) Rose. Hannah, born 17 March, baptised 21 March 1802. William, aged O, buried 27 Sep 1800. Both at Palgrave.

The National Archives "Discovery" site  has a settlement examination by overseers, Hoxne parish, of Roger Rose, hemp dresser  residing in Palgrave,  26 December 1787.

Might give you a starting point for further investigation.
