The best fit marriage I can see is:

March qtr 1839
Loughborough Registration District     vol 15, page 135

Holmes, Williams
+ and, on the same page +
Clarke, ann

Due to the rounding of ages on the 1841 census, William's age would probably be shown as 20?
(Adult ages were rounded down to a multiple of 5 years)
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

To eliminate or otherwise:

29 January 1839 - Dishley
William Holmes, full age, bachelor, Publican.  Father:  Thomas, Farmer
Ann Clarke, full age, spinster, Servant.  Father:  Joseph, Farmer
Witnesses:  John Adcock Clarke, Thomas Craswell
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

You could try the Sheffield Indexers website.  They found a census record for me that I'd been tearing my hair out for about 10 years!

For Thomas's birth there is a Thomas Holmes, born 1939 hull (subdistrict Sutton) on Yorkshire BMD
which I can't see on the GRO with-maiden-name indexes.
