Thank you Gilly. I had never heard of Scarlet finders. It looks very interesting. I did once do a basic search on-line of the National archive records and didn't find anything but it might be worth a visit. Planning a theatre visit to London soon so will take some time out and visit the archives! My ancestor was a servant / nurse in Cowley in 1891, then a district nurse near Selby, Yorkshire in 1901 and 1911 so I am sure she must have trained somewhere.

Good luck - my great aunt had also been a district nurse before the war.
