Occupation of Robert Christie
« on: Sunday 10 September 17 05:00 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am having trouble reading the occupation of Robert Christie (the father on this birth record).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :).  I think it says Book Agent, but I want to be sure.

Thanks a lot Annie!!

The next bit looks like "Domicil"... I wonder if the following line is an address?  The only word I can make out is "Dundee".   The rest of that line just looks like squiggles to me.

This man is an "artist" when he arrives in Canada in 1913 (and on all following Canadian records).  Interesting that he had another profession when his son was born in 1876.

The mother's name is quite clear - Mary Ann Christie, MN (Maiden Name) Matthews.

Thanks again...

Yes, I believe that it is book agent of domicil/domicile - as in residence - then address.

Thanks jamjar... I think this is starting to make sense now :).  That does look like "Domicil" (or domicile)

Christine.. you have super duper vision!!  I took your suggestion, and found a Dundee Directory for 1876.  There is a Robert Christie, book deliverer at 2 Ogilvie's Road :) :)

Many thanks to all of you...Annie, Christine and jamjar.   I think you have cracked it.  :) :) :)
