Correcting family tree.
« on: Wednesday 13 September 17 10:12 BST (UK) »
Hi, could anyone let me know how I can get family members names closer together on my tree. I have brothers & sisters with long lines in between them. Also why I have same person in my list, 2 & 3 times. If delete one they all go and have to start again. Thanks for reading and any help x Mary.

How are you building your tree?
And what software are you using?

OK.
Are you adding new people by using your own data, or are you adding people by using the "Ancestry Hints"? And getting data from other people's trees?

I add people by going into a profile, and then using "Add father", "add mother", "add spouse" and so on.

I go to profile add mother, square pops up then add photo. I can't see other trees. I do read hints and take Photo if interesting. X

The distance between brothers and sisters is probably dictated by the number of children each of them have.

Do you see the duplicates in the tree diagram? That can be caused by cousins marrying.  Not sure what would cause them to be separate entries in a list.

Is your tree public or private?

If you're happy to give some identifying details of the person, I could have a look to see if it's something straightforward

Send it by pm if you like
