I've asked John Grenham so we'll see if he gets back to me, hopefully he's knows something that will make sense of it all.

Thanks Sinann,

Looks like there's very little in the Kilshannig/Kilpadder RC parish registers.
- Kilshannig only contains Baptisms 10 Apr. 1842 to 23 June 1850 (IrishAncestors concurs)
- Kilpadder only contains Marriages 12 Feb. 1858 to 02 May 1871 (Feb 12 1858 - Nov 20 1869 according to IrishAncestors)

On a hunch I looked at a Kilpadder RC marriage on the NLI scans and found a matching civil marriage at IrishGenealogy. Page 8 ( http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632148#page/8/mode/1up ) third entry under the Jan 1868 heading is Daniel Corbett = Honora Scanlon. The corresponding civilmarriage is in Mallow (1868, Q1,Vol5, p662 - https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/976a9f14231923 and https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/65995614270113 but only the GRO references - I was hoping for an image so I could see the name of the church)

To me that says that Daniel Corbett and Honora Scanlon were married in an RC church within the Mallow Superintendent Registrar's district, and that they were nowhere near the yellow area up near Mitchelstown.

Hoping that John responds to your query and sheds some light on this.
Most roots researched back to the early/mid 1800s. Years noted as 'pre' refer to my direct ancestors, although I'm interested in any relatives:
Mitchelstown, Co.Cork: CORBETT (pre1935), SWEENEY  (pre1935), CUSACK? (pre1894), KEYS? (pre1894)
Mallow, Co.Cork: BROWNE (1895-1935)
Caher, Co.Tipp: BROWNE (pre1895), PURTELL(pre1895)
Cashel, Co.Tipp: FANNING (pre1886)
Llanelly, Carms: GRIFFITHS (pre1934), REYNOLDS (pre1901), WILLIAMS (pre1934)
Ton Pentre, Glams: LEWIS (pre1901)

That was good thinking, and it fits with the only townland names I found in the Kilpadder register, they were also near Mallow.
The size of the Reg district can be checked here
http://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php
There are no images of marriages yet before 1882 on Irish Genealogy, hoping it will be updated soon (I've been saying that since we expected an update last January that hasn't happened yet).

You gave me an idea, found a marriage in Kilpadder, Edmond Kelleher and Julia Roche 1871 than looked for a child born to them found one 1872 Edmond.
Registered in Mallow - Kilshannig, with an address in Glountane
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1872/03255/2192901.pdf

It sure is looking like nothing in those two registers relate to the area of the smiley and to find people from the smiley you would have to look in the Glountane register.
