Birth of YOUNG twins in Salisbury?
« on: Sunday 17 September 17 11:42 BST (UK) »
On Familysearch is the christening at St Edmund's Salisbury on 30 Dec 1818 of Clarissa Young d/o Isaac & Mary and of Martha YOUNG d/o Isaac & Mary but they have two different birth dates on FindmyPast - one in November 1818 and one in December 1818 - Should one of them be in 1817 although this would be before the marriage of parents?  Does anyone have access to the original?
Thanks
Pat

Have just answered my own question!  The images are on Ancestry and the dates are very clearly written but I suspect there is an error unless the twins were really born a month apart! Any suggestions?

Yes they are on Anc as you say but although Birth Days are given it doesnt state what year.
This is the same for a couple of other Baptisms on the page, but some have what year as well.
One child was even born 1809.

Their Son William Henry born 1823 wasnt baptised til 17 April 1825

Thanks Trish,  Yes, I think that probably one of them was born before the parents married in Jan 1818.
The others christened on the same day are relations so it looks like a job lot.
Their son William Henry must have been ill when he was christened because he died a bit later on.
Thanks for your interest

I've now found an announcement in the newspaper of the death of Isaac YOUNG's eldest daughter, Martha in 1828, aged 14.  Therefore she was born before they were married and was actually christened as Martha SUTTON Nov 23rd 1813 as the illegitimate daughter of Mary SUTTON - so that solves the problem except that Martha's date of birth was given as 1st Nov 1813!  Thanks for your help.
