I have been doing some research into the work of Edward Simpson (1845-1937). He was an architect who designed many Catholic Churches and other buildings in Yorkshire and elsewhere. I have been unsuccessful in trying to locate a photograph of him to personalise my study (which is not for general publication). Can anyone help please?

Have you tried contacting the below to see if they have any records of past architects?

THE CLERK
Jonathan Soar
clerk@architectscompany.org
Clerk to the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects
The Old Vicarage
Anchor Road

Or perhaps try contacting the heritage centres for Yorkshire to see if they can help at all?

Any newspaper articles about him which may include a photo?

Added - If he is Edward Maurice Simpson then there are two newspapers reports of him in the Leeds Mercury dated 6th & 10th July 1906

A small snippet in the York Herald 29th March 1889.

I suggest that you check either Find My Past or the British Newspaper Archive for any other reports.

Thanks Girl Guide.

I am an architect and I have tried the Royal Institute of British Architects (without success) but I have never heard of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects! I will try them and also your other suggestions. None of the census returns list him as other than Edward Simpson. I have seen a number of reports of the opening of buildings he designed,. but no photographs. I will look at the ones you mention.

Thank you for you help so far.
