Occupation on the 1939 Register
« on: Sunday 17 September 17 16:23 BST (UK) »
I have an occupation on the 1939 register of one my relations.  It looks to me as though it reads Ricemering.  I've conducted a search for this word or old occupation but can't find anything.

Any ideas?

It is probably Reamering, i.e. operating a machine like a lathe which enlarges holes to the required size with a reamering tool. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reamer

Agree with Stan. It's wrongly spelled Reamering.

Thank you Stan.  That makes sense, as I have a document with her occupation as a Capstan Lathe.

Thank you Cathy.  She must have worked for the BSA as did her husband, as he was a Gun Browner.
