Hi
What era are you talking about, Jones is a popular name in Wales so if you can expand with more details I can look for you.  Bill Filmer is not a name I recognise is the surname correct?

Roy

Hi my great grandfather was a James McLaughlin but born in 1896 in Salford but grew up in Greenock, he was a gunner in ww1 and married to a Mabel mclaughlin in 1918.
Do you mean that he married a Mabel whose maiden surname was McLaughlin, or that he married a Mabel something-else?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi all
Here is an update of what I have been able to find out.  Gwynfryn (Gwyn) Owen Griffiths joined the RN in 1939 aged 18.  Stationed at Clyde, he met Patricia Louise McLaughlin in 1942 at a dance in Greenock Town.  Post war, c19i46 they married in Glasgow registry office and briefly lived in north Devon before moving back to Brithdir, Glamorgan in 1959.  They celebrated 60 years anniversary in 2006 Gwyn and Pat both passed away in 2009.

Hope that helps
