Hmm
this now has me wondering  i never found any known reference to my mother's family being involved 1916 to 1923 in any Rebel activities which i thought strange.
Hugh O'Neill's father was Matthew O'Neill 1839/1904 he was a Centre (Fenian Leader) in Dublin personal friend of John Devoy whom he recruited into the Rank's of the I R B 1860 both arrested together in Pilsworth's Pub Feb 1866 Matt was arrested under Alias James Byrne of London and sent to America Nov 1866 and came back to Dublin around Feb 1867 for the Rising 1867.
Top right here ''From The New York Public Library ''

Hugh was Matthew's youngest born 1893 and the only possible reference to him i found was a claim to Army Finance 1923 Commandeered Motor Vehicle,Claim of Mr Hugh O'Neill Dorset Street his Children were born 95 Lr Dorset St.

One never know's.
