His baptism on familysearch shows father was named John.

Family in 1841 shows John 55, Betsy 45, Betsy 18, Norman 12, Joseph 10 and Alexis (?) aged 5.

Familysearch shows John Campbell married Betty McKenzie 18/12/1817 Lochbroom, Ross and Cromarty.

Joseph's marriage to Isabella Ross in 1857 confirms this couple are his parents.

That was quick, many thanks Annette, I was in the lovely town of Ullapool earlier this year where the museum has been doing some research for me on my forbears from Ross-shire: Campbell, McKenzie, Ross Drysdale and Sutherland.  I hail from Christchurch, NZ.
