Curzon Family, Wharton, Winsford
« on: Saturday 30 September 17 19:33 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I've gone through ALOT of my great Nana's photographs today.

they are very old and some of them have notes on the back of them so i am very interested to find out who the people are in the photos and how they know each other! :)

this photo had a note on the back for,

Mr Curzon
26 (or) 6, Princes St
Wharton
Winsford
Cheshire

i have found alot of Curzon's on my family tree! but god knows if this is one of them or what year this was taken :(

hopefully someone might be able to piece this together x

I htink the address might be Princess St - I can find a place by that name in Wharton (and in 1911 there are numerous Curzons there, if not in No 26!) but no Princes St

Hi, It is Princess Street.  I have also looked at the census for 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911 for numbers 6 and 26.  There is no Curzon at those addresses, plenty of them at other numbers.  My ancestors also came from Wharton - Hulse and Cookson.

Not sure if it helps but there is a Philip Curzon born 1880 and Selina born 1883 living at 28, Princess Street in 1939.

This is a long shot. Looking at the handwriting, is it possible that Mr is a shortened form of John?  On the 1891 census there is a John Curzon aged 45 saltmaker living at 66 Princess St with his family.

Thank you very much, that makes so much more sence now and i have matched it to the person on my ancestry tree. i'm just wondering, do you have any idea what the name says at the bottom? i can only make out "J"

I am pleased you have managed to llnk the photo with your family tree.  The signature could possibly be T Davies.

I have had another look at the signature.  It could also be I Davies.  My great grandfather Isaac also wrote his first name with an unusual looking I.
