Beats watching TV. I haven't had a telly since 1993.  ;D

Jamjar

I have to agree with you there. I usually don't have a TV, however I do enjoy the odd doco.

Couldn't agree more! We haven't had a telly since 1983.  ;D

I see. I took the following as you suggesting that they had moved from Grafton.

" 'Migration' from Grafton area to Toowoomba is quite feasible - not that far as the crow flies, in Oz terms of distance  :)"

No, sorry, I just was pointing out to the OP that it could have happened, not that it did  :)  :)  :)

And that the distance is not prohibitive, in Oz terms   :P  :P  :P

Hi,

We have a bit more information about Denis Shea and Mary Shea (née Taylor) and their children.
They had James, Robert, Mary Anne (Agnes perhaps), Theresa Eva, William, Sarah Anne, Elizabeth Margaret and Delia Irene.

My ancestress is Mary Anne/Agnes but here is where it gets interesting.....

Mary married Carl Rauch and had Raymond in 1912 and Mary (Mollie) in 1914.

BUT in 1909 Mary Anne had my great grandmother, Gladys Eileen Shea out of wedlock with no father recorded. We didn’t know that she was adopted until last year! What a shock.

Interestingly Gladys was adopted by CYRIL GORDON HART and Leah May Curren. The Hart family keeps popping up everywhere we look - with Theresa, Mary Anne’s sister living with Richard Cecil Hart and Shea sisters buried next to Hart sisters in the cemetery.

Does anyone have any information about Cyril Gordon Hart (b.1886 d. 1960) or any information about the relationship between the Hart family and the Shea family

Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat.

There are some interesting things on TROVE re: Cyril.

1920, 3rd column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article136373327

1930, 5th column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article236718297

I don’t see any NSW Hart/Shea marriages, up to 1968. Nor, Currer/Shea (note that she is registered at birth and marriage as CURRER - as are her siblings - not CURREN. Deaths also as CURRER. Her mother remarried as CURRER, in 1910)

Hi,
Richard Cecil Hart and Theresa Shea are my great-grandparents.
I do not have any information on Cyril Gordon Hart - didn't know he existed until now.

i do have info on Denis coming out to AU, where and when they lived after leaving Ireland and moving to AU.

Mary's middle name was Agnes from what I had found out.

Cecil and Theresa shacked up after Theresa had already had her first child, and they had 2 boys together. However Theresa's first child I do not know who the father is.
Cecil and Theresa never married, or at least I could never find any record of this.
Sarah Ann moved to Millmerran, QLD to be with her sister Theresa after her husband died.

I am curious if you have any info on Theresa or her siblings - what they did, where they ended up etc or any of the ancestors from Ireland - Denis's grandfather Micheal was irish, but have no info on DOB, where born, parents, siblings, wife etc.

Theresa's son said he knew very little, but that he thought that Robert was a cop, and that one of the sisters died young by taking her own life, probably Delia.

PM me if you want.
