Hi guys, does anyone know when  Emily jane seward born 1875 devon died? she married Sidney john kingdon in Barnstaple 1904 before he moved to wales in 1906 and married someone else but I cant find her in 1911 census she might have changed name or married again, also an amy Winifred kingdon born 1904 and buried pilton 1904 might have been her daughter but subs has run out so cant check FindMyPast baptisms and she might have only listed herself and not father in baptism register, thanks for any help on the matter, driving me crazy.

Divorce was very unusual in that era.  When Sidney remarried did he describe himself as a divorcee or a widower?

From the GRO web site (free to search)
KINGDON, AMY  WINIFRED     (no mothers maiden name listed which means she is possibly illegitimate ie. mothers maiden name Kingdon)
1904  Dec Quarter in BARNSTAPLE  Volume 05B  Page 416

Amy Winifred Kingdon was 22 days old when she was buried 05 Oct 1904.

GRO has Amy's birth (Vol 5b Page 416, Barnstable) no mother's maiden name.

There is another birth with the same name q1 1905, Barnstable MMN - Routcliffe.

Added - Have just seen that Rosie has posted similar info, apologies for duplicating  :)

Amy Winifred Kingdon
Baptism date -14 Dec 1904
Baptism place - Pilton
Father - George, occ - Mason
Mother - Mary

Something seems a bit odd as the death is before the baptism, therefore they must be two different people.  ???

The above Amy must be the one whose birth was registered in q1 1905.

Thanks guys, Sidney listed his dad as deceased on the cert of his second marriage even though he didn't actually die till 30 years later and as sidney moved to wales I think there might have been an argument upsetting the family, maybe sidney was a bigamist but I thought amy Winifred kingdon might have been an abandoned daughter that Emily listed in her own name after Sidney moved away.

And how did Sidney describe himself?   "Widower" or "previous marriage dissolved"

Hi lizbd, I bought Sidneys marriage certs of jan 1904 and 1908 and they match the data I have on him but I haven't bought the oct 1904, maybe it was another Sidney john kingdon or maybe it was him but pretty desperate to marry two more women in short amount of time if it was him.
