PRICE family Weymouth

Hi

I am trying to help a friend find  information about her grandfather who married and most likely died in Weymouth. I live in New Zealand so too far away to visit to check archives.

I have

Charles Price b 27 July 1876 not sure where. He married Grace May Ratti (maiden surname Cozens) 4 September 1916 at Weymouth. They had the following children
Peggy Primrose Price b 1917 Weymouth
Phyllis P Price b 1919 Weymouth, married William A Stone in 1935
William R Price b 1921 Weymouth
Peter Price b 1924 Weymouth
Doris M Price b 1926 Weymouth.

I believe Charles Price died in 1956 In Weymouth and Grace died 1962 Melcombe Regis.

If anyone knows how I can get more information on this family I would be very grateful.

Are you trying to go backwards with this family if so do you have the marriage certificate. 

If you are trying to trace their movements after their marriage have you found them on the 1939 register

I have the marriage certificate for Charles Price and Grace Ratti which lists him as a widower. His occupation is given as Stoker HM Torpedo Range and his father is listed as William Price a general labourer. Grace was divorced, I have the details of her first marriage and have traced her family but am struggling with the Price side. I do not know anything about Charles' first marriage.

I have also found Charles in the 1939 index which gave me his birth date but of course no place of birth. I would like to go back but with such common names, it is difficult. The family believe Charles may have been born in Kent but are not sure. They also believe he was Charles William Price but he is only listed as Charles on the marriage certificate.

There are two children Charles b 1914 Weymouth and Violet C P b 1915 who are listed both as Ratti children and as Price children

There is a death in 1912 Mary H Price (66y) who was married to a Charles Price of a much younger age

(Source 1911 Melcombe Regis - you'll have to look it up yourself)

royal Navy records confirm Charles Price's birthdate of 27/7/1876 and state he was born in Teynham, nr. Sittingbourne, Kent.  He enlisted 15/10/1895 for 12 years.

1881 Census for Teynham, Kent shows Charles living with parents and siblings but his birthplace shown as Newington, Kent.   His parents William Price 34   Brickfield Labourer born Headcorn, Kent and Hannah 34  born Newington, Kent.

His parents appear to be the William Price and Hannah Wright (tying in with the birth entry found by [Ray]) who married Jun.qtr.1866 Milton, Kent.
