Robert Ellis was married in 1807 in at Connah's Quay, Northop, Flint. The Register says both parties are of the Parish of Northop. I think the marriage was in an Anglican Church. The FindMyPast image unhelpfully does not say and there is no archive reference. But, the Register is printed similar to anglican ones post Hardwick. His first child Mary is bapt. 1810 in Northop quite definitely in a Calvinistic Methodist Chapel (Rhosemor). Three other baptisms follow in the same chapel. However, on this Register his Parish is named as Llanrhudd, which I think is near Ruthin, Denbighshire.
I'm assuming that this was his birth parish. I'm trying to trace a baptism for him. Searching Ancestry brings up no result until 1800 which is too late.
A search on FindMyPast produces 13 results between 1780-1790. However, none of them are in Llanrhudd. GENUKI tells me that records for Llanrhudd were listed with Ruthin, but there are no results for Ruthin either.
Also, these are only (I imagine) anglican baptisms. If Methodist I will have to find out where these registers are held. TNA have most in RG4 but they should also be available on Ancestry, where I can't find a result. Clwyd FHS have transcripts of some Denbighshire non conformist records but not early enough.
I can't plump for one of the 13.. it is rather a leap with no other evidence to link it to the Robert Ellis who is in Northop in 1807.
I can't find him in the 1841 Census either, though it is perfectly possibly that he was deceased by then. There are several deaths registered at Holywell which could be him, even one with an estimated dob of 1790.
Any suggestions?
