Bridget Lyons , 29 Chamber Street (1932)
« on: Wednesday 11 October 17 13:16 BST (UK) »
Hello,  I am researching a possible grandmother - Bridget Lyons who was living at 29 Chamber Street in south Dublin  in 1932, (near St. Patricks Cathedral and the Liberties) and she  had a baby in the south dublin Union on 18 July 1932 (Kathleen Lyons).

She doesn't appear on the 1911 census , and I am just wondering if anyone might have any suggestions on how I could find out more about her - There are thousands of Bridget Lyons but none  living at Chamber Street in 1911.

I'd be very grateful if anyone might have any suggestions on how I might trace this person, and in particular where she might have come from.   (I was adopted so I only have a few fragments of information and am trying to narrow down the list of possibles)

Hi

Have watched your messages over time and hoped you had unravelled this story.

Have you seen the following link?  It seems to be a dialogue between residents who once lived or had family in Chambers Street.  Might be worth posting a query:-

Best of luck

Have you seen this site? It may be worth asking your question here? LINK

Otherwise do you have an approx age for Bridget in 1932?
It would narrow down the suggestions below

If you do not know an age and make an assumption that she was between 21 and 31
i.e. born between 1900 and 1910, there are only seven Bridget Lyons on the 1911 census
aged 5 +/- 5 years LINK

There are only four more Bridgets if you extend the search to aged 15 +/- 5 years
There is noone named Brigid or Delia

If Bridget was from Dublin and based there in 1911 there are not that many to go through

There are twenty births between 1887 (aged 45 in 1932) and 1916 (aged 16 in 1932) in Dublin
This will not include female births where the name was added later
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

29 Chambers Street seems to be consistently a grocers shop on various directories and census

Hi.   I believe so,    I heard it was the South Dublin Union hospital (which I believe is the site of St,James Hospital now)
