David Lock
« on: Wednesday 11 October 17 21:24 BST (UK) »
I would like to trace the birth of David Lock, my great grandfather, in c.1816 (from census) probably in Sible Hedingham. Essex. He's not in FreeReg and I can't find him in Parish Records of St Peters. He was married to Susan(na) Smith on July 14 1835 and was buried on Oct 23 1868 in S. H. Thank you

Geoff Butcher

His marriage, death , 1841 and 1851 are all  on  familysearch.org but not a birth or baptism, have you looked at surrounding village records or non conformist

Hi Louisa
I've found nothing on the PRs of single hedingham, castle hedingham, gosfield and halstead.
I also checked non-conformist bmds. Nothing there either.
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

Thank you for looking. That makes it difficult to find his father! There are four Locks in S. H. of plausible age to have been his father - they only had six (baptised) children between them. Looks like another dead end...

Don't give up, one day he will pop up somewhere quite unexpected
