Delahunt family burial plot, Sheepscombe
« on: Tuesday 24 October 17 19:26 BST (UK) »
Gloucestershire registers on Ancestry show that four Delahunts (two unmarried sisters, their brother and his wife), who died between 1951 and 1971 were all buried at Sheepscombe.

I am visiting friends in Stroud this weekend and would like to take a photo of the Delahunt grave if there is one. If anyone has a copy of the MIs, please could you look up the surname and tell me if a gravestone exists? My main interest is in Jane Delahunt, 1877-1954.

Thank you
 :) Barbara

Have you tried to contact the church in Sheepscombe?  From the aerial view, searching the graveyard doesn't look too onerous a task  :-\

I can't see an email or phone contact for the church online.
Indeed, the graveyard doesn't look too big, but from Street View 2016, the grass looks long enough to cover flat stones. I assume later burials will be in the extension across the road from the church. We've only got Saturday morning and Sunday morning really, so I'm just trying to save a bit of time if possible.

I'll try an email to the Sheepscombe local history society. Jane Delahunt was a sculptor (faded from view like so many female artists) so they might be interested to know about her. Her sister Mary Eliza has 'P6' next to her burial entry, so I'm hoping that is a grave reference that someone will understand.

I think I've interpreted it correctly, and Sheepscombe is tied in with Painswick.

A lovely man from the Sheepscombe history society responded to my email and sent photos to help find the Delahunt plot.

The family grave had two stones; one for Jane's brother and his wife, and one for her two sisters. Sadly though, no memorial has survived for Jane herself.
