William Staff, Fisherman
« on: Wednesday 25 October 17 14:12 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out where and when William Staff died. He was a fisherman so possibly died at sea? The details are:

William (Jeremiah?) Staff, born between 1860 and 1862, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Parents: Robert Staff and Elizabeth Ingram
Married: Edith Windus Banton, October 1883 in Lincolnshire. Listed as Caistor District, and they almost certainly lived in Grimsby.
As far as I can see, he is listed on the 1871 census, living with his family in Gorleston, Suffolk. In 1881 census he is listed 'On Vessels' on board the Jessie Savel. In 1891 his wife Edith is listed as visiting her mother, Martha Windus, and she lists herself as 'wife' rather than 'widow', so I am presuming he is still alive at this point. Edith dies in 1892 and William Staff seems to disappear.
Can anyone shed any light on his death? This forum has been a huge help to me in the past with seafaring family.
Thanks.
