Hello kimnieman20 and welcome to rootschat!

Lots of friendly and knowledgable people here willing to help in your search, though a little more information would be helpful.  ??? What do you know already - where did they live, around what time etc.

I'm guessing (?) this is Alexander:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KF4J-M7C

Born 18 June 1871 in Scotland, died 8 December 1951 Michigan. Parents - Joseph SHERIDAN and Martha BOTHWICK.

The 1930 census shows Alexander and Isabella F SHERIDAN with son Sidney at Wayne, Michigan.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GRH6-SPF?i=37&cc=1810731

From info on this census - they immigrated in 1928, and have been married 30 years (c1900). They were all born in Scotland, though Alexander's father was born in Ireland.

This is them in the 1940 census:

This is from Scotlandspeople:

Isabella Flemin Byle   Alexander Borth Sheridan  marriage 1896 at Greenock West   564/2  269

You need to register and buy credits to get more information from the marriage certificate:

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

1901 census
living at 17 Brachelston St
Alexander B Sheridan   29  flesher  Greenock, Renfrewshire
Isabella Sheridan   25  Greenock, Renfrewshire
Alexander B Sheridan   4 17 Brachelston St

He is in a tree on Ancestry, which might be worth investigating, mother Martha Hockley Borthwick and father William Sheridan, but Joseph Sheridan is also mentioned.

1881 census gives this:
living at 16 Bruce Street, all born Greenock
Joseph Sheridan     58
Martha Sheridan   49
Maggie Sheridan   29
Joseph Sheridan     21
John Sheridan   15
Alexander Sheridan   9
Joseph McAllister   5  grandson

Hi,

I can the family on two passenger lists, slightly different info. on each. Both found at Ancestry .  but if you are not a member then here is a transcription of the UK Outward Passenger List.

Ship: Athenia
Departure:  23rd September 1927
Bound for Montreal
British passengers embarked at Glasgow

SHERIDAN
Alexander    Occupation:  Flesher            Age:  54
Mrs Isabella         "            Housewife       Age:  49
Sydney                "             Mechanic        Age:  23
Miss Martha         "            Clerkess          Age:  21

Last Residence:  5 Gateside Avenue, Greenock
Country of Intended Permanent Residence:  Canada

Then you can see the image of the Canadian Passenger list by searching here, (I found it quite a long way round to find them, maybe someone else could tell me if there is an easier way) :)

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kyc/

To find the microfilm number I searched the database to find the microfilm no. for Alexander here,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kyb/

Then I had to follow the link in "How to Obtain Copies"  to get here,

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/microform-digitization/006003-110.01-e.php

Then find the passenger list to Quebec that included 1927,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kyd/

Then put click on the microfilm no. for Alexander to get here,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kye/

The page search doesn't help so you have to find the right volume and page number by skipping through the images, Alexander and his family are on page 557 here :)

Sorry to write out all of my search path I just thought it might help everyone find him without going round in as many circles as I did  ;D

The immigration record gives some helpful info. the name of his cousin in Canada and his brother in Scotland.

Regards,
Daisy

Cannot see a birth for Isabella, in fact, lack of births for Byle.

However marriages for Isabella Byle, as above in 1896 Greenock, and this could be a sister (or just someone unrelated but surname similarly mistranscribed?)
Marriage  Greenock 1897  Margaret Byle to Alexander King.

Need Isabella's marriage certificate for information on her family

You're doing just fine kimnieman, simply click on the "reply" button and add whatever comment you would like to make, as you have done.  :)

Is this new information for you? Does it sound right with any family stories you may have? Lots of great information found to be starting with.  ;D

There is also a William Borthwick SHERIDAN aged 19 from Kilmacolm, Scotland arrived in New York in 1922.

A brother to Sidney and Martha perhaps?
