Marriage in Tithby
« on: Thursday 26 October 17 14:31 BST (UK) »
Hi
Could anyone help? I have a John Draper marrying a Martha in Tithby cum Cropwell Butler on 8.1.1744. Is anyone able to see what Martha's surname is?

Many thanks

None of the sites I tried give a surname for her,so either there wasn't one given or it is totally illegible. I think you would need to look at the Parish Register. Have you considered e-mailing the Record Office with the details and asking if they will have a look?

I have Tithby / Cropwell Butler marriages on the Notts FHS marriage CD covered from 1539 - 1901 and there is no John Draper marriage to Martha around that date.  There are 6 children baptised to them from 1748 - 1761 if you haven't got them let me know.

Confused now. Can't think where I got that info from. I have Thomas 1750, Mary 1759, William 1755, Martha 1758 and Anne 1761 but no sixth.

hi,

Its on the Familysearch site. I can check the actual records for you next week when I'm in Nottingham Archives if that's OK.

Edit:  Just checked my Notts FHS CD and found that there is a Martha ? Marry a ?? ?? on 1st Aug 1745 at Tithby so this may be the one you are looking for, the transcriber was unable to read the record so will see if I can make it out.
Also martha was buried on 26 Feb 1762 at Cropwell Bishop church yard.

Hi again. If you have the disc for Cropwell Bishop can I be cheeky and ask you another favour?
I have a Stephen Elliot baptized on 17.12.1726, son of Stephen and Elizabeth. Also a Stephen Elliot is buried on 27.1.1729.   Is there any way of telling whether it is the father or the son that is buried?  Does it mention "son of" or an age? A daughter was baptized after the burial and it names Stephen as the father -if that means anything.
Many thanks again
