I am desperately trying to trace any kinds of information about the Gellately family from Newcastle
Upon Tyne! I'm not having much luck with information! I know this doesn't really help, I know a few names and births etc starting with my father but then it sort of stops there as he never spoke to his parents after childhood!

Have you tried FreeBMD?

From 1900, there are 16 births in Gateshead, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Tynemouth Registration Districts.

If you find your father's birth record, his mother's maiden name will be mentioned.
From that, you can probably find a marriage.

Ultimately you need to try & get back to an ancestor born before 1911, you can then find them on that census.

Was your father born in 1966?

Added - If so, it's a bit tricky as we can't mention living people by name on Rootchat. Also, your grandparents might be still alive

John and Mary Gellatly having children in early 1820's in Newcastle upon Tyne - so there will be plenty in census returns .
