Death certificates
« on: Friday 03 November 17 16:02 GMT (UK) »
Wondering if anyone has come across the same problem as I have. Researching Great grandparents, and have their birth certificates and marriage certificate. But cannot find anything on their deaths, I dont have any information as in the dates or place that they died.

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

I've asked a moderator to move your post, as it's nothing to do with DNA? As per the name of the board in which you posted. Topic has been moved

Where did they live?
Which country?

If in England & Wales, try FreeBMD.org.uk.
If Scotland, try ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk (you'll need credits).

I think that many countries (Ireland included) don't allow you to look for deaths less than 50 years ago?

Hello and welcome to Rootschat.

It is normal to narrow down when someone died,by making a note of when they last appear on a census. Or on one of their children's marriage cert as deceased. Also if you find a will or death cert for one of them it might say widow (or widower of) further narrowing a date down.

If you want to give us their names there will be many of us on here willing to help.

But as KG said we do need as much info as possible, dates, full names addresses and family names.

Carol

Whoops....apologies, I'm new to rootschat and wasn't sure how and where to ask a question.

They lived in Liverpool, but I know he was in hospital in Ireland 1940 - 43 at the very least. But maybe for the rest of his life !
I've searched on ancestry, free BMD and find my past. But I've come to a dead end.
His name was James Fogarty born in 1910 he married Sarah May Stokes in 1936.
I can't even find any births for their children.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

There is a James A Fogarty (b1910) in Liverpool, with Sarah H Fogarty, on the 1939 National Register.
Sarah was born 1911.
There is 1 more person on this record, and 3 people who are officially closed.

Maybe this death?

I think these are James A Fogarty and Sarah A (fomerly) Judge, who married Jun qtr 1933 West Derby.

Thanks anyway

You say they lived in Liverpool, but do you know any specific date when they lived there (other than on their 1936 marriage)?

If in fact they moved permanently to Ireland after marriage and had their children there, perhaps that is why you are drawing a blank in English records?

"....know he was in hospital in Ireland 1940 - 43 at the very least."

Can you not elaborate on what you know??
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
