Hi Head Cook

Here's the family in 1861
RG9/974 folio 66
London St, Godmanchester
David Cole head marr 32 brickmaker b Gamlingay Cambs
Susan Cole wife 30 b Godmanchester
William Green wife's father widower 62 ag lab b Godmanchester
Samuel Cole son 10 scholar b Godmanchester
Mary Ann Cole dau 6 b Godmanchester
Joseph Cole son 4 b Godmanchester

Let me know if you need the family in subsequent censuses.

Cambs FHS has an excellent website at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html
with a baptism index which shows a David Cole baptised in 1832 in Gamlingay. It also has indexes for 1841 and 1851 censuses - if you find David on there just post a request on the Cambs look up request board with the reference and someone, possibly me, will look up the full entry for you.

Regards

David (assistant to the bottle washer)

Hello David.Keep doing a good job with those bottles.
I found David Cole on the1841Census.Film HO107/68/13 Folio6B.I couldn't find him on 1851, so he could have beenliving in Godmanchester by then. On the Baptism Index's  as you say its 1832 but Ive found his birth- date as 1829.
I tried to find his parents Matthew and Mary. Well I think they are his parents. Not much luck.Where is Guilden  Morden.?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Barbara

The 1841 full entry is

Cock St, Gamlingay
Mary Cole 35 independent
James Cole 14 ag lab
David Cole 12
Joseph Cole 10
Mark Cole 8
Mary Ann Cole 6
All born in Cambs

I don't understand the position in 1851, other than David isn't there!
HO107/1758 folio 65A
Cock St
William Norman head marr 52 carpenter journeyman b Gamlingay
Joseph Cole son unmarr 19 lab b Gamlingay
Charlotte Norman dau 15 platter b Gamlingay
Mariann Cole 15 platter b Gamlingay
William Norman 13, Sarah Ann Norman 11; Elizabeth Norman 9 all born Gamlingay

I think there is an error in the transcript from which I am working. The index shows Mary Norman 47 on Folio 65A, but there is no Mary in 65A. I think Mary Cole remarried William Norman.

The burial index shows Matthew Cole buried in 1836 aged 33 at Gamlingay, which ties in neatly with the baptism of Matthew Cole in 1803 in Guilden Morden which is only 5 miles south of Gamlingay.

Can't help with 1851 Godmanchester I'm afraid - it's not been issued yet on CDRom. But try Hunts look up exchange http://members.tripod.com/AztecRose/huntingdon/hun.html where there are people offering Godmanchester 1851 look ups.

Regards

David

PS Just emptied another bottle!

Hi David.
I looked up the Hunts look up exchange for 1851 and did very well. I got a reply from N Z.1841 as well. Thanks for the advice.
Poor Matthew ,he died very young didn't he.
in 1851 David lived in Godmanchester with his In-Laws.He Married Susan Green. Great Grandad Sam was only 2 Weeks.

BARBARA
PS I think we might match each other when it comes to empty bottles.
