Thanks for all your work on my behalf, well that eliminates that one!

I am edging towards illegitimacy now, why did they lie on these records?

I wonder if Robert the farmer was his Grandfather?

Think I'm scraping the barrel now - I've just flicked through all William Davies (alternatives of both) on the 1871 census, b. Wales 1846 +/- 2. There is one person that I don't think we've mentioned  before: RG10/2639/49/20 . I've not tried to follow him back or forward but just putting him forward as a possible.

When I looked through my local records, I didn't find any Robert Davies, farmer, in the area at that time. That made me think of illegitimacy at the beginning.

It is probably me doing something wrong but when I look up that record I am getting Glamorgan and no William Davies.

When did the birth records start in 1837?

I am wondering if he was born before they started?

It's quite a few years out,but have you considered the GRO record for William Davis,Dec qtr 1841,Wrexham.mmn Phillips?(Apologies if you have).
I can't see a NorthWalesBMD equivalent.
