WW1 Army service corps please help
« on: Thursday 09 November 17 14:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am seeing if anyone can help me on some research I am doing on my great grandfather:

Clarence Reginald still born 1876

WW1 ASC M2/074713 driver served 1915 - 1919

I am trying to find out what regiment he was in. His. Medal card states France 01/05/1915

Does anyone know which regiments went to France then? A long shot I know.

Many thanks

Hi,

I was hoping to find out more about the details of his regiment role in France. I thought the ASC was an overall and he would of been in a particular regiment.

Many thanks for your help.

The Army Service Corps had more types of unit than you can shake a stick at and were in the field from day one.  Unfortunately, all one can say from your man's number is that he was in the Mechanical Transport side of things, without his company and with no other records, I'm afraid you will find nothing on him at all.  Good info here:

No consolation for you to know that men of the ASC are one in of the most difficult Corps to research!

Hi max,

I was seeing this as my last hope and knew it would be a longshot. I don't think I will ever find out his in unit. Many thanks for your reply.

Just thought - absent voters' list 1918.  If found it may have his number and company as at 1918.

Just checked it - no sign.  There in Manor Lodge Tingrith but no company number.
