Then it will be another bonus when the Familysearch ones are released, as fathers' names are indexed too, aiding finding of births & marriages.

Yes, I suspect so Sinann. There is not much feedback from FS, so I doubt if I will know when the transcriptions go live - they will be linked to images though.

What we found interesting in the Records is an ancestor’s birth in 1866.

In 1901 he is shown as 28 yrs
In 1911 he is 48 yrs
He died in 1950 -age given as 67 yrs

All definitely the same man.

The birth record has really helped.

I tried one at random, having the parents names is very handy but I couldn't open the image so I than went to Irish Genealogy and could find the image there.
Irish Genealogy didn't have the mother's name on the index of the one I picked so very handy to know it did exist it was just a matter of finding it.
It will be good when that FamilySearch index increases it's number of records, bit limited at the moment but something to look forward to.

The update continues, death's and marriages which gave no result yesterday are there today with images, the added bonus is the couples to marriages are now also matched up.
And of course it's not just the 1916 births that were added, the marriages and deaths have also moved forward a year each.

I now know rather than guess that Bart Masterson lost his 1 year old son in 1885, his 14 day old daughter, 28 year old wife and 75 year old father in February 1886 . Poor man.

And finally - I use Irish genealogy to find the actual image.
I find using the mix of all 3 works best!

The above system only covers marriages in the 6 Northern Ireland counties but is similar to my approach for such marriages- I also do free searches on Emerald ancestors which show name (including any middle name(s)) and first name(s) of spouse. Between all of these sites it's usually possible to get date, registration district, names of bride & groom and their fathers' names.

Ulster historical foundation actually only seems to cover down and Antrim,  but that works for me.

I haven't tried emerald ancestors yet, might have to check it out.

The northern Ireland records pre 1921 are much easier searched and accessed than the post 1921 - groni isn't as user friendly as irish genealogy
