Where is John Gabriel in 1861.
« on: Sunday 03 December 17 16:51 GMT (UK) »
I've just noticed the death of a John Gabriel in 1862 in the Wrexham District of Denbighshire. He is almost certainly the John Gabriel whose birth is given in the Oswestry District of Shropshire in 1855.However he is not with his father John who is living with his second wife Mary(Jones) in St Martins Shropshire in1861.John having married the Mary Jones in Llangollen Denbighshire in 1857.Sadly it looks like his first wife Mary Roberts died shortly after giving birth to John Junior.

Regards
William Russell Jones.

Have you checked to see if he is with other family members ie grandparents?

Or the other thing would be to get his death certificate as that may give an address.

It could be that his mother died in childbirth, if I have the correct family.

There is a burial for a Mary Anne Gabriel in Pontfadog on 27 July 1855, aged 35 (i.e. John aged 6 10/12 in May 1862, so born circa July 1855) . Abode is given as Preesgwyn* which is in the Weston Rhyn/St Martins area. Registered Oswestry 3Q 1855, 6a, 391.

* I've walked around that area so many times in my youth  :)

Added - I see John's birth was 2Q 1855, so could be late June - no baptism found.

Yes they must have moved to the Cefn Mawr area in 1861/1862.
