Dorricott/Leese
« on: Tuesday 05 December 17 18:35 GMT (UK) »
I hope I am not getting ahead of myself and totally confusing the person(s) helping me.  I found this page amongst my many papers and wondered if someone could make a connection for me?

Joseph Dorricott (1839) - born in Oakengates, Shropshire

Wife Elizabeth Leese (1840) Born in Lilleshall, Shropshire

They were married August 24, 1863 in Holy Trinity,Wrockwardine

One child Mary.  Were there other children?

The connection to all this is through my Humpherson Line

Kind regards,

Doris Baudoux

Have you checked the 1871 and 1881 censuses for the family?  No children in 1871

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01egx/

If there are no other children shown - they may have had children who died between censuses so you can use GRO online to search for Dorricott births with mmn Leese

One child Mary.

So Mary was their niece - not their daughter

In 1891, she is Mary Leece, niece, age 4.
In 1901, she is Mary Dorricott, daughter, age 15?

Hi Carole W.
I am  totally  confused and I believe the problem is with Elizabeth Leese.  Regarding Elizabeth the information was sent to me and he has recently passed on.  He told me we were related through the Humpherson line, but it is the Leese line.  Could I prevail upon your good nature to make a fresh start.
My starting point is:Joseph Doody (1786) wife Mary Doddicott (1769)
John  (1790);  Joseph (1796);  Sarah (1798)

Joseph (1796) wife Ann (unknown) (both born in Donnington Wood)
Children: John (1823);  Mary (1824);  Joseph (1828);  William (1830);  James (1833);  Elizabeth (1838);  Emma (1840)

I will leave this with you and thank you again

Regards,

Doris Baudoux
