Criminal record question about Staffordshire

If someone was convicted for a crime around 1930 in Bloxwich... where would the accused be sent?

I think I've found the right record, it says Stafford. Would it be Stafford? Or maybe Walsall?

I would think Stafford as I would think Walsall probably had only temporary holding cells. It may be worth searching newspaper records. The trial may be have been in Walsall.

Now adays they would go to Walsall from Bloxwich but I'm not sure when that started if the offence was serious they would probably have gone to Stafford Crown Court anyway

Stafford Prison was closed between 1916 and 1940 so the accused wouldn't have been sent there:

I'm not sure what facility was used instead during this time!

The online sources mainly pre-date when you are looking for (eg Staffordshire Name Indexes https://www.staffsnameindexes.org.uk) so it may be worth contacting Staffordshire Records to see what records they have that can be viewed in person or they have a research service for people who aren't able to visit in person.

There are some Walsall newspapers on line on findmypast and I think ancestry and also Staffordshire ones in general. There may be something in the court account which said where they were sent on entering the name and area.
