Catherine Owen, Caernarfonshire, Wales - Dating photographs

Hiya gang...well, having been summoned by Wiggy, I have reported for duty 

Also the photos have been dated perfectly, late 1850s/early 1860s on the first one and latish 1890s on the second. I think they are the same woman.

Very nice the earlier photo. Lovely to have such an heirloom.

I thought I would reply while my wife is watching Strictly Come Dancing. I feel very privileged for a call to go out to help me. The photograph of Captain William & Mary Jones was taken on board ship but unfortunately I have only researched his career up to 1886 and his last ship in 1910 on which he tragically died.
Some more photos which might be of interest although I do know the dates. The first is my maternal Grandparents wedding in 1906. and the second is my Grandmothers youngest brother Stanley who was sent to the merchant navy training ship Indefatigable in Birkenhead date about 1912.
Going back to the 1860's Catherine Owen photo this appears to be more professional and I have been wondering if it was taken by the same photographer who took Ellis Owen. Since Ellis was notable in his area at the time I am guessing that the photographer might be John Thomas who started off selling carte des visites of Welsh Celebrities as well as the local people and views. I'd forgotten that the National Library (LlGC) had put the photo collection on Flickr and have just had a lovely time going through some of the collection * - looking for some of my ancestors but not found any so far.

What part of Caernarfonshire are you/these photos from?

(I'm not Welsh - but was asked by a friend to look up a Thomas Thomas once when we were travelling overseas.          )  Just love your list of surname interests!!     Easy peasy - not!!
