Have you looked for him on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk ? If he died in Scotland, his death certificate should tell you the names of his parents. As he married in England, his marriage certificate will only give his father's name but not his mother's.

You should also take a look at the original of that census, just to be sure that there are no errors in the transcription you found ..... actually there is at least one already - borlermaker should read boilermaker.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

As I said on there, I think there was a naming pattern in Scotland which may help identify his parents.

In my view, the MC would be the place to begin which will at least give father's name & occ.

Without those details it's a bit of a gamble.

There are 3 different RDs with Glasgow attached...
Glasgow, Martha Street & Park Circus

There are many other RDs which come under 'Glasgow' area...

Springburn, Calton, Milton...to name a few.

He may have stated e.g. Springburn, Glasgow but ony Glasgow being written  :-\

The marriage may have a Graham witness which may also be a lead?

Then as Groom says, the naming pattern could help too if it was used?

The marriage may give his actual age but depending on the month he was born when the census was taken he may have been born 1865.

Scotlands people web site ... I think it is all changed since I last was on ... can you still look up the death and a link to spouse ... so the spouse maiden name of Nabb would that be a link ... your correct about the dates and I have considered this as there are a few grahams all abt the 1865 1866 ...

"He was living in 1923"

I know there was migration in that year, is this how you know John was alive then & was this when they were in Possilpark?

When/where did Fanny die?

I don't see a death for her in Scotland but if she was a widow when she died the informant may not have known her maiden name?

Were both alive on children's marriages & where/when were they married?

Indeed as well as the Index being FREE now  ;)

I tried a search with only the surname Nabb (no forename) & nothing.
