I have on my tree a twig for  Ellen Berry bapt. 1833 Debenham as the d/o Joseph Berry & Mary ?


Using Anc..y & the IGI I have come across the following entries and wonder if anyone has access to the records, they could confirm them, and any additional info, please?

Joseph John Berry marr. Mary Berry 26-9-1825 Wickham Skeith

Joseph John Berry born 24-7-1808  Thornham Magna bapt. 19-5-1822 Wickham Skeith s/o Joseph Berry & Sarah Cutting

Joseph Berry marr. Sarah Culling/Cutting 5-11-1799 Wickham Skeith. just found on SFHS marr. Joseph Bury marr Sarah Cutting

The marriage is for John Berry.

John Berry  m  Mary Howard. 26 Sep 1825. Wickham Skeith,Suffolk.

The birth you mention is also John Berry.

John Joseph Berry. b 24 Jul 1808. baptised 19 May 1822. Wickham Sheith, Suffolk.
father  Joseph Berry.  mother  Sarah Cutting.

Hi,
I don't think they are the parents of your Ellen Berry.  b 2 Jul 1833. baptised 08 SEP 1833. died 19 Mar 1915.
Her Parents were...

Joseph Berry  b 1809.
Mary Finbow  b 1806.

There is a tree on FamilySeach for them, LT7C-K72 ​

There is a Mary Finbow  b 11 Apr 1806. Otley, Suffolk  to  Richard and Elizabeth.

Not sure now if they are Ellens parents as Ellen is not on the 1841 census at Stone Cottage, Debenham, Suffolk.  Need to delve further.

Hi solidrock,

I had/have my doubts about her parents in the first place, mainly because on the 1911 census she is recorded as being born in Essex whereas in 1851,71 & 81 census she is listed as being born in Debenham.
I have also found a possible birth/bapt in the Suffolk Independent registers for Debenham -  Ellen Berry born 2-7-& bapt. 8-9-1833 d/o Joseph & Mary Berry.

I also found a tree on Anc..y that referred to Joseph Berry & Mary Finbow  but when checking for Mary's marriage other names came up and not a Joseph Berry/Bury - hence my doubt.

Yes I found the Independent birth for Ellen and thats to Joseph and Mary (FInbow) but can't find a marriage for them, looks like they had 9 children.

Did your Ellen marry? There are several possibilities for a marriage. I still think she may be the daughter of Joseph and Mary Finbow but where was she in 1841?

Yes, Ellin Berry married Elijah Ribbans 14-8-1859 Rotherhithe, Surrey. Ellin was the d/o Joseph Berry, Labr and Elijah s/o Robert, Butcher
