You are quite correct spelling sometimes was as it sounded and not how it may or may not have been so was a bit hit and miss!

I've just had a look at the BTs on FindMyPast. I looked at the entry for Susan, as per the snip I posted. Top of the page states that these are the records for "christenings at Thornton chapel".
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
