Mary Elizabeth is old enough to be her Mother.....

That did occur to me and whether Maria had registered the baby as her own.

I am desperately trying to find my gt grandmother Emily Elizabeth Jervis on both the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

I have her birth certificate

Is this a birth certificate that has been passed down through the family or have you purchased it?  I am just wondering how you know that your Emily was born at St Saviour if you can't find her in 1901 or 1911.

Debra  :D

Birth certificate was purchased. But it has to be the right person surely - exact name and age as per her marriage certificate as well as the right area. No other births that fit

According to one published tree, she emigrated to Canada c1900 and married George Alford Hunter.

I was just looking at a similar tree, Heywood. However, that can't be right if she's Silvercup's grandmother can it?

Can I just check is the father the same on both the birth and the marriage certificate?

Father is on birth certificate as Frederick Jervis and marriage certificate as George Thomas Jervis. However as I said up thread I don't think George Thomas is correct as everybody on that certificate seemed to be George Thomas!

I'm certain the birth certificate I'm looking at is the right one though. There were no other Emily Jervis born anywhere in the Uk for a 2 year period, age is correct, middle name is the same, address at birth and address at marriage a 15 minute walk from each other.

I thought Father was James on b.c even though he couldn’t be because he was dead.  :-\

Sorry, my mistake

There are Workhouse admissions for Henry and George Alfred in 1890 and a tree for George Alfred (although no parents nor birthplace are shown). The interesting thing is that George also emigrated to Ontario, Canada.

It was Mary E who emigrated and married.
