I already have a lot of information on Robert and Jane but am looking to try and definitively confirm:

Robert Welsh
b abt 1799 in Stepney - I have found a possible baptism for this date at St Georges in the East with parents Helen & James, but no address to confirm this is the right person
m 1826 to Jane Veness in St George in the East - again, I know he married Jane ? and that she was born in Hastings. Their first son James was born in 1827, so this could be correct but I don't know for sure that Jane's maiden name was Veness.

Assuming Helen & James are the parents of Robert:
James Welsh
m Helen Lundin 15/11/1794 in St George in the East. by 1810 he was a widower and remarried Magdalena Lundin/Creuie - also a widow and possibly Helen's sister (Helen was a witness at Magdalena's wedding to John Creuie).
From James' will (proved in 1837, so he would have been alive at the time of Robert's wedding) I know he had 2 properties in Stepney, one in Lower Chapman Street (I think the family home) and the other at 62 Dempsey Street.

I also know that both James & Robert were Master Mariners, so a potential connection there.

What I would really like is to be able to confirm James & Robert's relationship and that Jane's maiden name was Veness.

Any ideas?

Ancestry has a marriage at St George Hanover Square of Robert Welch of St George's parish Middlesex (presumably "in the east" not Hanover) to Jane Veness of this parish on 27 august 1826, witnesses Henry Sexton and Mary barsford

They are in Westminster in 1841 and 1851, and Robert is a Clerk.
Where does St George in the East come into it?

Yes, sorry this is the one.  What I'm not sure about (although fairly convinced) is whether this is my Jane and Robert.

I can see they were married by license, but don't know if it's possible to get a copy to see whether there are any addresses.

I have seen these on other ancestry trees, but with no evidence to support - if I could track down an address it might help.

Their eldest son James was baptised in 1827 at St James Westminster (they were living at 1 Warwick Place, Pimlico) and Robert was listed as a mariner.  On later census records he is a clerk (and listed as dumb, so maybe an accident/illness?).

Well, on George Deason's marriage registration on FreeBMD in 1868, transcribed as George Denson, somebody has added a correction.
Given names: George Deason , Associate Name: Veness , Age at Death: 23121830 . The source given for this is: Birth record. Family archives.

George being one of the sons of Robert and Jane.
What the family archive says, I don't know!

1871 census is good.
Robert is retired and living with son James, and we are getting to St George in the East

Robert Welsh died 17 Feb 1872, age 72.
Left a will, proved 5 Feb 1873. Executor was son George Deason Welsh.

Could be worth getting a copy.
