I've just been working backwards through the Llandegla parish baptism records and got this far:

4th March 1787 David
25 April 1784 Jane
8 Feb 1782 Thomas
30 April 1780  Robert
24 May 1778  Godfrey
21 Jan 1776  Jane
13 Feb 1773   Robert (wheelwright)
10 Feb 1771 John  (wheelwright)
26 Jan 1769 Edward

Not found a likely marriage yet though.

Will have a read of Heather's info now  :)

No marriage so far but this is the most likely Robert

Llandegla Baptisms
16 Feb 1746  Robert Roberts son of Edward and Jane   - possibly died so ~
11 Sept 1748  Robert Roberts son of Edward and Jane

I'd put it in your 'possibles' file.

Another possible for you ~

Marriage by Licence
Llandegla 19 Jan 1744
Edward Roberts of Llanarmon and Jane Jones of Llandegla

As it was by Licence, you should be able to get the licence from the National Library.

Also possible baptisms, in addition to  Robert (given above)

10 January 1845, Llandegla -Elizabeth d of Edward and Jane
15 October 1752, Llandegla - Thomas s of Edward and Jane
9 June 1854, Llandegla - Samuel s of Edward and Jane of the parish of Llanarmon

Also wondering about a Llanarmon marriage for Robert and Mary  - dated as just after Edward's birth but it could be when the calendar was changed - will investigate.

I can’t say how great full I am to you Gadget for taking time to research this topic . I have been waiting ten years to go back another generation , I know it is not 100% but it seems plausible to me .
Hope you can find out a few more bits and pieces for me .
Thanks again .

I'll keep looking for you - who knows we might be related far back  ;D

Looking at marriages between Robert and Mary, I think the one Heather found in Llanelidan in 1766 is the most likely - but no proof so far  :-\
