Location of Estate papers
« on: Tuesday 26 December 17 20:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

After a long time and because more records have been coming online I decided to have another crack at my William Connolly. William farmed on Corranewy Townland, Ematris parish. I know his father was Robert from paperwork I found on a visit to PRONI.  This said William was born 1792 (which would tie in with his death cert details) and was the second son of Robert Connolly and Jane Thompson.

The only Robert Connolly I can find anywhere near Ematris is one via Griffiths who worked on 1st Baron Plunkett's estate. The townland was Raw which isn't a huge distance away from where William farmed.

Questions are:

1. Does anyone know if estate papers may contain more info about the workers than what's on Griffiths?

2. If they might, where I might locate Baron Plunkett's estate records?

All a bit of a shot in the dark at the moment but worth a try

Thanks

Ann

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
