I have found the birth of Elizabeth Fawcett 1838 Gibraltar, in the GRO birth indices 1761 to 1924, it says of 82nd of foot volume 96 page 35, would I be able to get a copy of this, to possibly find her fathers name?

Hello Pauline, have received the birth cert for Elizabeth Fawcett born Gibraltar, it confirms er mother was Bridget but father was John, so this is not my family as James Fawcetts father was Peter. So can put this line to bed.

did it give a maiden name for Bridget

No did not give her maiden name, but it was Thompson,that was the name of her son James in the 1851 census, she had him as Fawcett on the 1841 census

Do you have his baptism to confirm this or is it from another source

On Bridget's marriage to Thomas prest she states her father as James Thompson
