There is a Mary Richardson born 1830 in Malta, her father was in the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, although further information is pretty thin on the ground - GedB

William joseph edgar newman married my relative Eleanor Agnes Chapman born 1862, in 1884 in Bethnall Green. I am fairly certain of that. Then I checked GRO for Williams mums maiden name and found Richardson. Thats where I became a bit lost, but as I say, William joseph Edgar Newman was born in 1853, Sulcoates Yorkshire.

Benjamin Richardson a widower aged 21+ of Bath Somerset married Sarah Babington a spinster aged 21+ of Pansbury Shropshire in Malta on 19th June 1828. The 2nd Battalion were there at this time so the birth of Mary Richardson in 1830 could be linked. - GedB
