Cheers.

Karl Werner Norberg also went to USA in 1905 only to return 1906.
Here is the record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JFXL-JNP
He went to see a friend Lindström.

Nice finds Daisy.

I agree that this isn't the same Augusta.
Here is this family from 1880 in Ärtemark Parish:

Thank you again for the information you've given, it's much appreciated.

Another piece of advice - how easy is it to search for a death certificate with just a first name?

It's a long shot, but I'd be looking for a death certificate for an Augusta born in 1870 with any surname at all, between January-June 1896 in London - the east end especially Poplar, Limehouse or Stepney most likely. To be absolutely specific if our information is correct death date would be March 1896 probably in Limehouse.

I am now thinking if there's a way to find a clue to a possible adoption, so I thought maternal mortality could be a starting point.

Is this a plausible search? Or would it be a case of scrolling through endless index pages looking for a needle in a haystack?

Try just putting Augusta into freebmd for the period you need, there are not many results
