Missing Marriage at Barking, Essex, UK
« on: Friday 05 January 18 15:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for a 'possible' marriage between Thomas Seager and Elizabeth Ann Phillips (previously Ellis) between 1896 & 1901. She was the widow of Henry Phillips.
In the 1901 the surname is listed as Sigger.
I have tried Find my Past and Ancestry with no results. As I live too far away to go to the local or Chelmsford R O's might someone have an idea of how I could progress from here please?

Why do we have the window 1896 to 1901?
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Hello Everybody.
Many Thanks for looking at and responding to my post.
Between you, you all have the correct information.
I didn't put everything you have found into my question as I did not want to
'overload' the post before knowing if they may be a response.
Elizabeth (b 1866/7 Dagenham) was married to Henry Phillips at Ongar 1887.
He died 1896 leaving her with 4 children. Hence the start of the 5 year window asked about by PaulineJ. Maybe I should have made it a 7 year window. I have the Baptism only of Rose May Seager January 1899. I have not found a GRO record. Thomas Seager and Elizabeth (no other surname) are shown as the parents.
There were 2 further children born to Elizabeth and Thomas Seager - Alice Louisa (b 1903 Barking) and Charles George (b 1906 Dagenham).
I cannot find a GRO marriage and maybe they did not marry at all but it may be possible that a Church wedding was not recorded or transcribed to the GRO, hence my appeal.
It is also a calculated 'guess' that any marriage would have been at Barking as that is where Rose May was baptise.
Any idea's of how to progress further would be greatly appreciated.

There seems to be some confusion in 1911 about how long they had been married  ;)

Alice Louisa and Charles George both have mother's maiden name as Ellis via GRO.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
