I've been unable to work this one out from the 1871 census.

Where was the census taken so we know which county to look at
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

It might also be useful to compare this word with others on the page, so if you can tell us names, places, reference numbers etc for the census, then we can have a look at it ourselves.  :)

Another thing that may help is looking at other censuses to see where this person says they were born.
