Cannot find baptisms for a particular line (Lancashire/Yorkshire border)

Hi all,

I found my 4x Great Grandmother Alice Wilson's baptism record from 1816 (Non-conformist), showing she was born in 1815 at Sandy Syke (farm?). The baptism place was Sandy Syke Independant chapel near Bolton by Bowland. It states that her Elizabeth mother is the daughter of William Brennand, Yeoman of Skirden Hall. I've learnt that the Sandy Syke chapel was constructed in 1812 and Skirden Hall was right next to it.

What i can't find is any baptism records for Elizabeth daughter of William Brennand, on the census it states she was born in Newton by Bowland. The only thing i have found is a marriage in 1837 at Colne (Thomas Brennand - (X), of age Yeoman Widower of Skirden Hall), who i am guessing is the brother of Elizabeth. A will for William Brennand of Skirden Hall from 1802 exists which names his children as William (the eldest), Robert, Thomas and James, and Betty.

Could anyone help me?

I have not found a baptism but Elizabeth Brennand's birth year seems to be 1772 as when she married Richard Wilson on 25/6/1795 she was 23 years old

Where did you find her on a census please. (noting 1841 census does not give where born)

Newton by Bowland.to All Hallows church Mitton is 9 miles according to AARouteplanner - Barshal Town doesn't show on Routeplanner but I would imagine it is closer to Newton by Boland ??

Really sorry for not replying earlier. I don't seem to get email updates if someone replies...

Yes i have seen that 1770 baptism before, i have a feeling it isn't the right one (for reasons i cant explain). The distance seems quite far for a rural family in those days. I'm thinking that because Alice their daughter was baptised in a non-conformism chapel, which was only built a few years before. There must have been another in the area when Elizabeth was born (which records may have been lost for).
