Can someone please tell me how to go about ordering a copy of a marriage cert from the UK?

have you got the GRO reference from freebmd, FindMyPast or Ancestry?

If so you can order directly here

you need to register with the site with a user name and password

Thanks for this info, I got that far BUT it only seems to offer Births and deaths and no mention of marriages? Am i missing something?

You need to select "Place an order" from menu on the right hand side of the page:  then select "Marriage" from the main menu.

Were you perhaps trying to order a PDF certificate, if so marriages are not included. You need to order a physical certificate, costing £9.25. ; https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate
